PMR446 radios are free to use across the EU for families, events, small shops and holidays. The Quansheng TG-FR1 is compact, with a colour display, a flashlight and Type-C charging.
Licence-free in the EU. PMR446 has fixed rules: 16 channels on 446.0–446.2 MHz, at most 0.5 W and a fixed antenna. This page is about the CE/PMR446 version; the FRS version is for the US.

Is PMR446 really licence-free?
Yes, in the EU (and in many other CEPT countries). Anyone can use it, as long as the radio is a PMR446 radio with its fixed antenna.
How far will it reach?
It depends on the terrain: buildings and hills shorten the range. PMR446 is designed for short-range use, such as across a site, a campsite or a shopping centre.
Can it talk to other brands?
Yes. All PMR446 radios share the same 16 channels, so they talk to each other on the same channel and tone setting.
Why not the TG-A1?
The factory lists the TG-A1 as a mini radio, but it transmits on 400–470 MHz at up to 3 W, which is not PMR446. You'll find it with the professional radios.
